The Food World Magic City Classic demoed by Pepsi is delighted to denote that last yearâs game between in-state state rivals Alabama A&M University and Alabama State University exceeded the list of most went to dark college football games in the country during 2007. This is the first time the Food World Magic City Classic has finished up first on this list rolled up annually by the Onnidan Group. Drawing more than 68,593 fans, the game set an all-time attendance record. The Magic City Classic stopped a six-year streak previously kept by The Florida Classic, which features Florida A&M University and Bethune-Cookman University. âWe have worked really arduous to make the Magic City Classic not just a football game, but also a cultural event for family reunions, alumni groups and corporations,â stated Faye Oates, Executive Director of the Magic City Classic. âThis announcement motivates us to make bound that next yearâs Classic remains the largest in the country. This helps set up Birmingham as an enthusiastic host of better featuring events.â
Food World will stay as the title sponsor of the 67th Annual Magic City Classic in 2008, a partnership it has basked since 2002. Food World has been an assertive commercializing partner for the game trading thousands of tickets annually inside their stores.
âFood World is arrogant to be tied in with this enthusiastic football classical,â stated Kent Moore, President of Brunoâs Supermarkets, LLC. âMany of the fans of this game support our Food World stores, and our title sponsorship is one way we can give back to the community.â
âThis announcement puts much a plus image on the City of Birmingham, and it puts us on a domestic stage,â stated Deborah Vance, Chief of Staff for the Birmingham Mayors Office. âThe City of Birmingham will go on its efforts to make the city a place where spectators will desire to go on to visit and support. This is an enthusiastic accomplishment for our smooth community, and we appear forward to working with the Alabama Sports Foundation for years to come.â
The Alabama Sports Foundation has pulled off all aspects of this Classic since 2000. The financial records for this game are in the closing stages of being shut and literal amounts are not accessible, but both schools will harvest record financial payouts from this yearâs game. The 67th annual Food World Magic City Classic will be kept at Legion Field in Birmingham on Saturday, October 25, 2008
